Double Denim Obsession.

People that know me are already awake of my denim obsession. From denim jeans, coats, tops, to denim skirts and even boots. When it comes to the double denim trend, often referred to as a Canadian tuxedo, there are a couple of simple rules.

Don’t be afraid to go for denim accessories- if you do it right it can work really well. However, it can also be disastrous. When I say disastrous, by that I mean Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 American Music Awards disastrous.

Don’t try to hard to wear a denim outfit that’s all the same wash or weight. Don’t be afraid to vary up the shades and textures, as this will create a nice contrast to your outfit. And remember to use the denim shades in your favour: a lighter shade with draw attention to the body while a darker one will create a slimmer effect. If you master the double denim then you can even go ahed for something more tricky: the triple denim, but that’s a story for another day.

I took these photos in the summer of 2017, but it seems a good time to post them now at the beginning of 2018, as at the NYFW several designers such as Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Adam Selman and Zadig & Voltaire presented the double denim trend in their Spring\Summer 2018 collections.

Big thanks to my friend Sorin M for shooting these amazing photographs- make sure you check his work on “Sorin Marculescu Photography”.
